Spend a week in Rome and discover the many faces of this extraordinary city and its surroundings.
Day 1. Walking tour of Roma Barocca starting from Piazza di Spagna, one of the most majestic urban monuments of Roman Baroque Style. Next toss your coin into Trevi Fountain, so we are sure you will return to Rome, visit the glorious Pantheon with its fabulous Dome and the centre of Italian Political Area – Chigi Palace and Montecitorio. Our tour will end in Piazza Navona to admire the famous Fountain of the Four Rivers, Bernini’s masterpiece.
Day 2. Private visit of the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. The visit includes the Candelabras, Tapestries, Geographical Maps Galleries, the Immaculate Conception Room and the Rooms of Raphael, painted by the artist between 1508 and 1520. You will admire the divine frescos of the Genesis and the Last Judgment, work of Michelangelo Buonarroti and the majestic Basilica of Saint Peter – a dominant religious complex and artistic masterpiece! You will marvel at the Pietà of Michelangelo and the large Baroque sculpted bronze canopy, by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
Day 3. Romantic tour by retro Vespa! Relive the atmosphere of the famous movie “Roman Holiday” with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, tracking down the scenes proved to be a fun way to take in some of the sights in Rome in a romantic way. We begin at the Spanish Steps and pass by Via Margutta, the narrow street where Gregory Peck, aka Joe Bradley, resided in a studio apartment, at number 51. The street is now largely occupied by artists' galleries and antique shops. Next we will fulfil the window shopping role and enjoy extravagant displays on Via Condotti, pass by Fontana di Trevi and Castel Sant’ Angelo to end at Lungotevere, a road that stretches along River Tiber, with beautiful pastel sun-dappled buildings fronting it.
Day 4. Discover Ancient Rome on a tour that will start from the Coliseum , named by the Romans as "Amphitheatrum Flavium" - used as a burial ground, and later as a dwelling during the XVI century. Admire the Arch of Constantine standing proudly next to the Coliseum and continue through the streets and trails of the Roman Forum. Our tour will end at the great Piazza del Campidoglio, since ancient times the focal point of political and religious activities in Rome. If you travel with your kids let them be a “Gladiator for a Day” - this unique hands-on experience, is the trick to fire up their imagination and help them gain a deeper appreciation for Rome’s historical sites.
Day 5. Escape the crowds in Rome for a day and discover the idyllic Castelli Romani! Sample delicious local gastronomy including various types of crispy and spicy “porchetta” and wild strawberries. Wine enthusiasts will thrill their palate with a sophisticated wine tasting at the most exclusive winery in Castelli Romani and enjoy a pleasant walk though their stunning vineyards overlooking Rome! Visit Castel Gandolfo, the Pope’s summer residence, and enjoy delicious Roman cuisine accompanied by the finest local wines, while admiring splendid lake views! We will show you the anomalous uphill-downhill road in Ariccia, known as the anti-gravity hill, the small town of Grottaferrata, with its outstanding Greek Abbey of San Nilo and the village of Frascati, famous for its white wine and for its spectacular Villa Aldobrandini.
Day 6. Explore “unknown Rome” visiting the unique Trastevere district. The history in Trastevere is hiding around every corner, all you have to do is take a walk. Admire the beautiful frescoes and ancient mosaics at the Church of Santa Cecilia and the beautiful fountain with a “cantharus” that lights up at night. Let’s go up the infamous Janiculum Hill for a spectacular view of Rome before enjoying your farewell dinner in a chic “osteria” or listen to live music while having a drink in one of the many cafes in Trastevere. Goodbye Roma!
